The Heart of the Home

Our kitchen is probably the 2nd runner up to where we spend the most time in our home. The kitchen was a huge selling point for us in this home. The counters are probably my favorite part… or maybe the pantry!! Having a pantry is such a blessing! We organize our snacks so the kiddos can easily pick out their after school snacks and decide which cereal to have in the morning!

I am a huge fan of having a window to look out of when doing dishes/cooking. The window in our kitchen is large and has a great view of the back deck/yard. I even removed the window treatments on this window because I love a lot of light in the kitchen. The beautiful boxwood plants in the windows are from Hobby Lobby (my favorite place to spend free time haha) and was under $15!!

Our kitchen counters are a beautiful white quartz with specs of grey and sparkle. We had considered painting the cabinets white as well, but with all of our home having dark wood trim and doors, we decided to keep them the color they are!

We had a great chalkboard laying in the garage that I just couldn’t get clean. So, I purchased a sample size chalkboard paint and painted it over. I then used a chalk marker and chalk pencils from Hobby Lobby to add a calendar, some sweet family rules, and other organization for our family!! We add all important dates on the calendar, which helps to keep us organized. If you’re looking for a good sized chalkboard, check out Hobby Lobby. And for chalk paint, check Lowe’s. I was informed by an honest employee at Home Depot that Lowe’s has a larger selection of chalk paints! 🙂

A few things I’d still like to add to the kitchen to decorate. And might even add some pendant lights over the counter/breakfast bar area!! And someday I’m hoping to find a large farmhouse table for our dining area!! Follow along for more updates in the future!!
